Coupon Codes

This guide explains how to create and manage coupon codes in Reusely and how they are validated during offer creation to ensure a clear, consistent experience for you and your customers.

Written by Althaaf Rachman Hafidz

Purpose

Coupons in Reusely let you offer discounts or special promotions to customers. They can be applied automatically by your team or entered directly by customers, making them a flexible tool for driving engagement, loyalty, and repeat purchases.

Additionally, coupon codes are now validated during offer creation. If an invalid coupon code is entered, the system will return a clear response instead of silently creating the offer without a discount.

Steps

  1. Access Coupon Code Settings

  2. Create a Coupon Code

    • Choose between:

      • Fixed Amount (e.g., $10 off)

      • Percentage (e.g., 15% off)

    • Set the code name and discount value.

    • Then click the Save button.

  3. Save & Confirm

    • Click Save to activate your coupon code.

    • Test the flow to ensure the discount is applied correctly.

Coupon Validation Behavior (API & System)

  • Coupon codes are validated during offer creation.

  • If a valid coupon is provided, the discount will be applied as expected.

  • If an invalid coupon code is submitted, the system will return a clear and descriptive response.

  • Offers will no longer be silently created without a discount when an invalid code is used.

  • This allows frontend systems or API consumers to properly display an “invalid coupon” message to users.

Examples in Action

  • You want to boost engagement during the holiday season by offering a 15% coupon code (e.g., HOLIDAY15).

  • A customer is hesitant to complete a transaction, so your team applies a manual $20 discount to encourage acceptance.

  • A customer enters an invalid coupon code during checkout and receives a clear message indicating the code is not valid.

Tips & Notes

  • Keep coupon codes short and memorable (e.g., “WELCOME10”).

  • Use percentage discounts for broad promotions and fixed amounts for targeted campaigns.

  • Monitor performance in the Coupons Report to track effectiveness.

  • Ensure coupon codes are correctly configured before sharing them with customers.

  • Coupon type and value are stored when the offer is created.

  • Recalculations always use the stored coupon data, not the latest configuration.

  • Updates to coupon codes only apply to new offers.

  • Existing offers remain unaffected, even if the coupon is changed or deleted

  • Legacy offers follow fallback logic for stability.
