How to Create a Custom Location

Set up internal-only Custom Method locations for trade-in events

Purpose

The Custom Method feature in Reusely allows businesses to create internal-only locations for trade-in events, pop-up buyback programs, warehouse intake, or manual trade processing workflows.

These locations can be hidden from customers while remaining accessible internally to staff via the Trade-In flow.

Before You Begin

Before creating a Custom Method location:

  • You can create a maximum of 3 Custom Method locations

  • Custom Method locations use manual trade processing workflows

  • Customer Visibility can be turned ON or OFF, depending on whether customers should see the location

Steps

Access the Location Settings

Go to Settings in your Reusely dashboard.

Click Location from the left sidebar.

Click Add Location.

Create a Custom Method Location

In the Add Location modal:

  • Select Custom Method as the purchasing method

  • Enter your location details:

    • Location Name

    • Email

    • Address

    • City

    • State

    • Postal Code

    • Phone Number

You will also see this helper text:

"Custom Method locations use manual trade processing. You can create and manage your own workflow statuses without predefined automation or system-driven trade logic."

Configure Customer Visibility

Use the Customer Visibility toggle:

  • ON = visible in customer-facing widgets

  • OFF = internal-only location

Save the Location

Click Add Location.

Expected Result:

  • The location is created successfully

  • The location uses manual trade processing

  • Internal staff can use the location from Trade-In

  • Customer visibility follows your selected setting


Customer Visibility Behavior

Customer Visibility ON

When enabled:

  • The Custom Method appears in widgets

  • Customers can select it during trade-in flows

  • The method appears in Landing Page Builder and Purchasing Methods

Customer Visibility OFF

When disabled:

  • The location is hidden from customers

  • The location still appears internally for staff

  • Staff can still create offers using the Trade-In flow

  • The location remains available in Offer Management and workflows


Workflow and Notification Behavior

Custom Method locations support:

  • Workflow Settings

  • Notification Settings

  • Offer Management

Default Workflow Statuses

Custom Method starts with:

  • Active Leads

  • Complete

Users can create additional custom statuses if needed.


Supported Notifications

Customer Notifications:

  • Offer Confirmation

  • Customer Notes

  • Review Email

Staff Notifications:

  • New Offer

All templates are disabled by default and must be enabled manually.


Customer Portal Support

Custom Method supports Customer Portal access.

However:

  • Portal links are not automatically included in templates

  • Users must manually insert the shortcode into notification templates if needed


Widget Behavior

When Customer Visibility is ON:

  • Custom Method appears in the widget

  • The flow behaves similarly to In-Store


Tips and Notes:

  • Creating a custom location may incur additional charges

  • Use a custom method for temporary events, trade shows, or internal intake programs

  • Use location tags to organize offers from different events

  • Auto-apply location tags can speed up intake during busy trade-in sessions

  • Hidden locations remain fully usable internally

  • Location-tagged offers can be filtered and exported later for reporting

  • Manual workflows provide flexibility for unique business processes

  • The payout method will automatically be assigned to the internal location workflow

  • Shipping labels cannot be generated for Custom Method internal locations

  • The Custom Method name cannot be set as “Custom”

  • Custom Method locations cannot be disabled once created if they are still being used internally

  • Automated payout methods are not supported yet for Custom Method locations

The Custom Method feature provides a flexible way to manage internal trade-in events while keeping customer-facing experiences clean and controlled.
